Must Know Before Your Tattoo

How to Prepare for Your Tattoo Session

Thank you for choosing Tattoo Mania Studio. Following these simple guidelines will help ensure your tattoo heals properly, your skin is in the best possible condition, and your appointment runs smoothly.

1. No Alcohol

Do not drink alcohol for 48–72 hours before your appointment. Alcohol thins the blood, which can cause excessive bleeding during the tattoo. This makes it more difficult for the artist to work and can affect the quality of your tattoo.

2. Get a Good Night's Sleep

Aim for at least 8–10 hours of sleep the night before. Being well rested helps your body tolerate the tattoo much better and makes long sessions more comfortable.

3. Eat a Good Breakfast or Meal

Never arrive on an empty stomach. Have a nutritious meal containing protein and slow-release carbohydrates before your appointment to help maintain your blood sugar levels. If your session is long, bring snacks such as fruit, nuts, protein bars, sandwiches, chocolate, and sports drinks or water.

4. Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water the day before and on the day of your appointment. Well-hydrated skin accepts ink better and helps your body during the tattoo process.

5. Shower Before Your Appointment

Please arrive freshly showered. Good personal hygiene creates a more comfortable environment for both you and your artist.

6. Exfoliate Your Skin

Gently exfoliate the area to be tattooed 1–2 days before your appointment. Removing dead skin cells helps create a smoother surface for tattooing. Do not exfoliate aggressively on the day of your tattoo.

7. Moisturize Your Skin

Apply a light, fragrance-free moisturizer to the tattoo area for several days before your appointment if your skin is dry. Avoid applying lotions or oils immediately before arriving unless instructed otherwise.

8. Do Not Sunburn Your Skin

Avoid tanning, sunbathing, or using sunbeds for at least a week before your appointment. Tattooing sunburned or damaged skin is unsafe and may require your appointment to be postponed.

9. Do Not Shave the Area

Unless specifically instructed, leave the shaving to your tattoo artist. This helps prevent cuts, irritation, or ingrown hairs before your session.

10. Wear Comfortable Clothing

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area. Remember that clothing may come into contact with ink, stencil products, or ointments.

11. Avoid Excessive Caffeine

Try not to consume excessive amounts of coffee or energy drinks immediately before your appointment. Too much caffeine may increase sensitivity, anxiety, and make it harder to sit comfortably.

12. Bring Entertainment

Long sessions can take several hours. Feel free to bring headphones, music, movies, podcasts, or a fully charged phone or tablet.

13. Let Your Artist Know About Any Medical Conditions

Please inform us before your appointment if you have diabetes, heart conditions, blood clotting disorders, epilepsy, allergies, skin conditions, pregnancy, or any medications that may affect tattooing or healing. Your safety always comes first.

14. Arrive on Time

Please arrive on time for your appointment. Being late may reduce your tattoo time or require your appointment to be rescheduled.

15. Bring Valid Photo ID

A valid government-issued photo ID is required. You must be 18 years of age or older to be tattooed.

16. Relax and Enjoy the Experience

Feeling nervous is completely normal. We're here to make your experience as comfortable, enjoyable, and professional as possible. If you need a break during your session, simply let us know.
